State Auditor Tera Klutz visited the BSUGOP to tell us about her whirlwind of a story on a getting into politics. Auditor Klutz was recently appointed by Governor Holcomb to the post which was left vacant by now Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. Prior to that, she was elected in 2010 as Allen County Auditor in Fort Wayne with nearly 70% of the vote.
Speaker: Victor Whitehead
Victor Whitehead is the Delaware County Republican Party Chairman. He graciously met with the BSUO GOP to discuss his goals for the county party and how we, as Ball State students, can get involved with the local party. Victor brought up some of the heartache happening with schools in the area and fear of jobs not coming into the county unless things change for the better.
Speaker: Anne Hathaway
Anne’s involvement with the Republican party is significant. She served in the George H. W. Bush Administration as scheduler for former Vice President Dan Quayle. Since leaving the administration she has held various positions within and outside the Party. She is Director of the Lugar Series for Women. She currently runs her own consulting firm, Hathaway Strategies in Indianapolis and in 2012, she served as Program Director for the Republican Convention in Tampa.
Speaker: Pete Seat
Pete currently serves as the Indiana Republican Party’s Executive Director of Strategic Communications & Talent Development. Pete served in the White House Press Office during the George W. Bush administration. He served previously at State Party as Communications Director, worked for Indianapolis firm Hathaway Strategies and most recently served as Communications Director for Governor Holcomb’s gubernatorial campaign. His credibility is strong but his plethora of hilarious stories is even stronger. Thank you, Pete!
Speaker: Brian Mowery
Brian Mowery serves as the Indianapolis City-County Councilman for District 25. He was appointed to the council in December 2016 to fill seat of state senator, Aaron Freeman. As a former Ball State graduate, Mowery came back to his alma mater to speak to the BSUGOP about getting involved in politics at a young age. Mowery felt like one of the best things you can do as a candidate is see as many faces as possible and he did that by knocking on countless doors. Thank you for the great advice!
Speaker: Kyle Hupfer
Kyle Hupfer was recently appointed by Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb as the Chairman on the Indiana Republican Party. He also serves as General Counsel to Indiana Mills an Manufacturing in Kokomo. Previously he served as Treasurer for both Eric Holcomb’s senate campaign and gubernatorial campaign. He was appointed Director of the Indiana DNR by former Governor Mitch Daniels. He spoke about how we can be of help to the whole republican party on a campus where the CR’s are mostly an “isolated island.” Hupfer stated, “if you can get people active now, then they will be more likely to stay active after college and know more ways to be plugged in.” Hupfer is excited to get started at the INDGOP and looking forward to leading the party forward in the 2018 Election cycle.
Speaker: Adam Berry
Adam created the website www.politcalbank.com, as a tool for candidates to connect with voters on an “policy” basis. His business went from being a kickstart to receiving an invitation to Silicon Valley. Previously he served as Regulatory Policy Director and Special Counsel to former Indiana Governor Michael R. Pence.
He left us with this challenge: do you have to have specific beliefs in order to qualify as a Republican? If someone is not pro-life, can they still be a Republican? If someone doesn’t support gun rights, can they still be a Republican? It was an excellent lesson on acceptance. He feels it is more important to vote for people’s true colors than the side they take for votes.
Speaker: Michael Neal
Michael Neal is an experienced political veteran. Getting his start in Lake County, Indiana with the Young Republicans, Neal worked his way up the ladder until ultimately serving as the External Operations Director for former Indiana Governor Michael R. Pence. Currently he serves as the National Committeeman for the Indiana Federation of Young Republicans and Director of Community Outreach for the Indiana National Guard at Camp Atterbury.
Michael has many stories from his time serving Governor Pence, and his travels throughout the state, staffing the now Vice President, and Governor Eric J. Holcomb when he was Lieutenant Governor.

Ridenour serves part time on the City Council, also working for Mutual Federal Savings Bank in Muncie as a Commercial Lender. He is enjoying serving the City of Muncie and making a difference and looks forward to continue the positive change Muncie is seeing.
